Healthlinks Podcast Host: D.J. Thatcher brings a powerful combination of broadcasting experience, leadership training, and a deep-rooted passion for health care to the HealthLinks Podcast. Originally from Pennsylvania, he got his start in radio through an American Medical Association news program and later worked in TV, radio, and corporate leadership, becoming a global master trainer with Dale Carnegie. His background in health care sets him apart—starting as a volunteer EMT at 16, he became a paramedic at 18 and later earned his nursing degree, specializing in emergency, trauma, and critical care. He also served as an assistant chief nursing officer before transitioning into media. Thatcher remains active in the field, working as a 911 paramedic in Charleston. He and his wife, Allyson, a local physician, enjoy their empty nest with their two dogs, Bailey and Chance, while their grown children have an array of careers, proving that the apples don’t fall far from the tree.
